In order to put vehicles in motion, energy is required. Conventional drives use the combustion of fuel to convert heat into motion energy. Depending on the layout of the combustion engine, the vehicle size and weight as well as the driving style, the required quantity of fuel varies, the energy content of which is released by combustion. The quantity of combusted fuel is directly connected to the resulting CO2 emissions – the higher the consumption, the higher the quantity of emitted carbon dioxide. Furthermore, many comfort and safety functions are directly connected to consumption.
